After meeting up with your guide on location, you’ll walk a short distance to the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue. From here your expert guide will lead you through a wondrous world of white, blue, and crystal clear ice. While on the glacier, you’ll get to see deep crevasses and water cauldrons along with other interesting features of the glacier. During the tour, you will also have plenty of photo opportunities with this stunning backdrop.
This is an informative, safe and easy glacier walk on the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue. Your certified glacier guide will lead you through a frozen wonderland of different shades of glacier ice; white ice, blue ice, and crystal clear ice. You should dress according to weather and keep in mind that it can get cold up on the glacier, and the weather can change quickly. Wear warm clothing, rain gear, and hiking boots.

It takes about 2,5 hours to drive here from Reykjavík, and about 45 minutes if you are driving from Vík.
Directions to the Sólheimajökull parking area:
From the West (Reykjavík): 6 km after Skógar, you turn left (just after the bridge) onto road 221 and then follow road 221 for about 5 km to the Sólheimajökull Café parking area. (Expected 20 – 30 min. for this part).
From the East (Vík): 3 km after you pass road 222, you turn right (just before the bridge) onto road 221 and then follow road 221 for about 5 km to the Sólheimajökull Café parking area. (Expected 20 – 30 min. for this part).
