We are a booking service: we sell tours and activities that are operated by other local tour operators.
When you book a tour or contact us we collect the information you give us, such as your name, email address, phone number, the tour, date and number of travellers, pick-up or hotel details, and any special requests. Payments are processed by a payment service provider through our booking system; we do not store your full card details on this website.
When you visit the website we also collect basic technical and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and how you arrived at the site.
We use your information to process and confirm your booking (to perform our contract with you), to pass the necessary details to the tour operator who provides your tour, to answer your questions and handle changes or cancellations, to keep the accounting records that the law requires, and to understand how the website is used so we can improve it (our legitimate interest). We send marketing emails only if you have given your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
We share personal data only where needed: with the tour operator that runs your tour, with our booking platform (Bókun) and payment service provider, with our website hosting provider, and with analytics services such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console. These providers process data on our behalf or under their own privacy terms. Some of them may process data outside Iceland and the EEA, in which case appropriate safeguards are used. We do not sell your personal data.
The website uses cookies and similar technologies, including analytics cookies from Google Analytics, to measure how the site is used. These cookies are set when you visit the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the browser add-on provided by Google (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
If you tick the box to receive news and offers during checkout, we may email you about our tours. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also write to us at info@iat.is.
We keep booking and payment records for as long as required by Icelandic accounting law (generally seven years). Other information, such as contact messages, is kept only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for.
You have the right to access your personal data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive a copy of it in a portable format, and withdraw consent you have given. To use these rights, contact us at info@iat.is. You also have the right to complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd, www.personuvernd.is).
