The Blue Ice Experience in Skaftafell

The Blue Ice Experience in Skaftafell is a great excursion to take in the beautiful Vatnajökull National Park. On this tour, you can enjoy an easy 2-hour walk on the Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue. This glacier is a breathtaking outlet glacier of Vatnajökull glacier. It offers beautiful scenery and stunning views. Led by an experienced guide, this is a great experience for travelers looking for an adventure in the Skaftafell area.

After meeting up with your guides in Skaftafell, you’ll take a short drive to the Svínafellsjökull glacier. Before the tour begins, your guide will teach you how to use the safety equipment, such as crampons and an ice ax. From there, your journey into the glacier wonderland begins. Led by expert guides, you’ll walk through a world of glacial ice sculptures, ice ridges and deep crevasses in the glacier.

This tour is a great addition to a day spent exploring this beautiful region of Iceland. You can easily combine this tour with a hike in the area and an exploration of the nearby glacier lagoons, Fjallsárlón and Jökulsárlón.
