Journey onto Vatnajökull Glacier
Your adventure begins at the Glacier Journey summer base near Hotel Smyrlabjörg in Southeast Iceland.
After meeting your guide, you’ll receive the necessary snowmobile equipment, including a warm insulated overall, helmet, gloves and face covering.
From the base, travel towards the glacier through a dramatic landscape surrounded by some of Iceland’s highest mountains.
Once on Vatnajökull, your guide explains how to operate the snowmobile and goes through the essential safety procedures before the adventure begins.

Then, climb onto your snowmobile and ride across the vast frozen landscape of Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier.

The tour is rated moderate, with a minimum participant age of 6 years. Drivers must hold a valid driving licence.
Two guests can share one snowmobile, provided their combined weight does not exceed 180 kg / 390 lbs. If the combined weight is higher, single snowmobiles must be booked.
