This is a small group tour with a departure from Reykjavik.
We will leave the city after the pick-up (it can take up to 30 minutes) and head straight to Laxness Horse Farm.
A 2-hour horseback riding tour in the charming area of Mosfellsdalur is included. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes – rain gears or warm overalls in winter are provided, along with boots and helmet. You don’t need to be experienced to ride a horse, but please note that the minimum age of participants is 6.
Golden Circle Tour
The second part of the tour – The Golden Circle Express – is operated by Gray Line Iceland.
During this tour, you will visit three main attractions of the Golden Circle:
Thingvellir National Park
Learn about some of Iceland’s thrilling and gruesome history at Thingvellir National Park. Its significance is so great that it is a designated UNESCO world heritage site. You’ll walk the grounds where Icelandic democracy began more than 1,000 years ago on the fields of parliament (Thingvellir) and visit areas where Viking-era justice was carried out, including the Drowning Pool and the Gallows Rock. Thingvellir is also where two tectonic plates are gradually separating, creating a gorgeous landscape of cliffs and broad fields featuring Thingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.
Geysir Geothermal Area
One of the most famous, beautiful, and largest waterfalls in Iceland. Gullfoss means golden waterfall. Hearing the roar of the Hvita River as it plunges 32 meters over two tiers into the gorge below is exhilarating. On sunny days, rainbows are abundant in the mist rising from the falls, and several paths are available around the waterfall, including one leading down to its bottom, so come equipped with your raincoat and have your camera ready.
The Great Geysir, the first of its name, resides in Haukadalur in the Geysir Geothermal Area. The entire area is bubbling with geothermal activity from steam vents to boiling mud pits and the real stars of the geothermal show, the geysers. All other geysers, the world over, are named for Geysir. While the Great Geysir erupts only occasionally these days, the last time being in 2016, nearby geyser Strokkur erupts regularly, delighting onlookers by shooting hot water high into the air every few minutes.
