The Premium Snæfellsnes Peninsula Tour

This Snæfellsnes Peninsula tour lets you visit all the highlights of this beautiful area in Iceland, and then some! Travel in a comfortable minibus to the area which many call “Iceland in miniature”. On the tour, you’ll visit sights such as Arnarstapi and Hellnar, the Djúpalónssandur pebble beach and of course the picturesque Mt. Kirkjufell. You’ll also enjoy views of the majestic Snæfellsjökull glacier and the small fishing village of Grundarfjörður. This tour offers a full day of exploration for travelers of all ages.

After pickup in Reykjavík, your professional driver & guide will start the drive up to Snæfellsnes peninsula. This are of Iceland is home to many of the most picturesque sights in Iceland, so you should be prepared for a full day of fun sightseeing! Not only is the nature of this area stunning, but it is also rich in history.

Once on the peninsula, you’ll start by driving to the small town of Grundarfjörður. This town is perhaps best known for its famous landmark mountain, Kirkjufell. Here you can enjoy views of this stunning mountain and of course, it’s namesake waterfall, Kirkjufellsfoss.

Continuing on you’ll visit the Djúpalónssandur beach. Now uninhabited, this area used to be home to around 60 fishing boats. Fittingly, this beach is home to the “lifting stones”. These stones were once used by fishermen to test their strength. To qualify to work on a fishing boat, a man would have to lift a minimum of 54 kg to hip weight.

After testing tour strength and marveling at the beauty of Djúpalónssandur, you’ll continue on to the small village of Hellnar. From there you’ll travel to the village of Arnarstapi. Here you can experience some beautiful cliff views and admire the stunning nature that surrounds you. After visiting Arnarstapi you’ll continue your drive along the Southern Coast of the peninsula. If the weather and visibility are good you’ll be able to experience some great views of the Snæfellsjökull glacier.

On the way back to Reykjavík some rest stops will be made, for example in the town of Borgarnes. Once back in the capital, you’ll be dropped off at your chosen location.
