Discover the beauty of Iceland’s South Coast with an unforgettable Glacier Kayaking tour at Sólheimajökull Glacier. This unique activity allows you to paddle among floating icebergs while surrounded by dramatic landscapes shaped by ice and volcanic activity. If you are exploring the South Coast on a self-drive trip, this tour is the perfect addition to your itinerary.
Your adventure begins at the Sólheimajökull glacier parking lot, where you will meet your experienced, English-speaking guide. After a warm welcome, you’ll be provided with all necessary gear, including a dry suit and safety equipment. Your guide will help you gear up and give a detailed safety briefing before introducing basic kayaking techniques. The sit-on-top kayaks used on this excursion are stable and easy to handle, making the tour suitable even for beginners with no prior kayaking experience.
Once on the glacier lagoon, you’ll be immersed in breathtaking views of Sólheimajökull glacier and its surrounding ice formations. As you glide across the calm, mirror-like waters, you will paddle between crystal-blue icebergs and witness the glacier’s raw, natural beauty up close. Your knowledgeable guide will share fascinating insights into the glacier’s history, geology, and the effects of climate change on this ever-changing environment.
This excursion offers not only adventure but also serenity, as the stillness of the lagoon contrasts with the power of the glacier itself. It’s an opportunity to capture stunning photos and create lasting memories of your time in Iceland.
