Just outside of Reykjavík lies the beautiful Hvalfjörður Fjord. Before the opening of the Hvalfjörður underwater tunnel in the ’90s, the fjord served as an essential connection between West and South Iceland. After the tunnel’s entrance, the fjord was overlooked mainly by local and foreign travelers alike. Favoring the shorter tunnel route, Hvalfjörður was in many ways forgotten despite its natural beauty. Home to natural attractions such as the Glymur waterfall, Hvalfjörður is slowly but surely making its way back on the map.
On this tour, you will uniquely experience Hvalfjörður! Once there, you will gear up in drysuits or wetsuits before hitting the water. This experience is suitable for both beginners and those with more experience. Your guide will tailor the tour to your experience level; if you are a beginner, he will teach you the ropes.
Once out on the ocean, you can experience some incredible views. Surrounded by mountains, paddleboarding surrounded by such natural beauty is an unforgettable experience.
Please note that SUP tours are highly dependent on weather and sea conditions. This tour can be changed or canceled with short notice for safety reasons. You do not need SUP experience to enjoy this tour, but you must meet some minimum requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
To be able to participate in this tour, all guests must meet the following requirements:
Be comfortable in the water and be able to swim
Be physically fit
Be ready to wear a sometimes tight & constricting dry suit
Be at minimum 145cm (4’9) tall / maximum 200cm (6’7) tall
Be at minimum 45kg (99 lbs) / maximum 120kg (264 lbs)
Be at minimum 14 years of age, please contact us regarding young participants
Not be pregnant
If the tour is canceled you will be offered to reschedule your tour to another date. If you are unable to re-schedule, we will offer you a full refund for the tour.
Depending on whether you choose a drysuit or a wetsuit you should wear:
Drysuit: You should wear thermal underlayers long underwear and warm socks underneath the dry suit.
Wetsuit: Swimsuit
We recommend that you wear these underneath your clothes when you go on the tour, to make it easier for you to change before going in the water.
We recommend that in addition to either thermal underwear or a swimsuit to wear under your suit (see above), you bring with you: Light snack such as an energy bar, etc., a reusable water bottle, towel, and camera.
You do have to be able to swim to participate in SUP tours.
Reservations can be canceled 48 hours prior to departure without penalty. Cancellations received less than 48 hours prior to departure are non-refundable.
Cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@iat.is.
Please be mindful of possible time zone differences. Iceland is in the GMT time zone and cancellations must be submitted at least 48 hours before departure in Icelandic local time (GMT).
If you do need to cancel your tour, we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible.
