Enjoy a full day of adventure with the Snorkeling in the Silfra and Horseback Riding combo tour. On this tour, you will start with a snorkeling tour in the Silfra Fissure. The Silfra fissure is located in the heart of Þingvellir National Park, where the two tectonic plates meet. This is a lifetime experience that you don’t want to miss. You can choose between a drysuit and a wetsuit for the snorkeling tour. You will snorkel between the two continental plates in crystal clear water. On most days, you can enjoy visibility of over 100 meters. During the tour, your guide will take pictures of the snorkeling trip that you can download free of charge.
After your snorkeling tour, you will continue to a family-run horse farm. Here you will join a 1-2 hour horseback riding tour on a friendly Icelandic horse. During the tour, you’ll learn more about the Icelandic horse, which is unique due to its five gaits. After making some new friends, your guide will return to your selected location in Reykjavík.
Please note: You don’t need to be an experienced snorkeler to enjoy the Silfra snorkeling tour, but you do need to meet some minimum requirements.
Please read the FAQ section for this tour carefully before booking your tour.
To be able to participate in this tour, all guests must meet the following requirements:

Yes, all our guides are either certified divemasters or dive instructors. They are highly qualified professionals and under their guidance, you will feel safe and secure. They will provide you with all the gear and information you need.
Before entering Silfra, your guide will show you how to use the equipment to ensure a pleasant snorkeling trip.
You should wear thermal underlayers long underwear) and warm socks underneath the dry suit for your snorkeling.
If you wear glasses, you should bring contact lenses.
For the rest of the tour, you should wear warm outdoor clothing. We recommend checking the weather forecast before going on the tour. Keep in mind that the weather in Iceland can change without notice.
You can not wear glasses under the snorkeling mask, but you can wear contact lenses.
If you have a snorkeling mask with prescription lenses, you are welcome to bring it along for your tour as long as it is not a full face mask.
On this tour you can choose between a drysuit and a wetsuit.
The general idea is that the dry suit should keep your body dry. Our drysuits are all top-quality designs from respected manufactures but please note that there is always a small risk water can get into the dry suit. This is not in any way dangerous, but you could feel the cold a little bit.
Please note that your hands and face will get wet.
If you choose a wetsuit, you will get wet in the water. The wetsuit does help keep you warm, but a wetsuit option will always be colder than a drysuit option.
The snorkeling itself takes about 30-40 minutes. When we get to the exit point which is in the Lagoon, you get the opportunity to swim around a bit longer if you’d like to.
You do have to be able to swim to participate in the snorkeling.
Yes, our guides take photos of every snorkeling tour. They then upload them to a Google web album where you can pick the photos you like and then download them FREE of charge.
