If you’re looking for a fun excursion while in Reykjavík, the Reykjavik Peak ATV Tour tour is a great choice. With a 1 hour ride on powerful ATV’s, you can get your adrenaline going on the outskirts of Reykjavík. This tour is a great activity for families. Kids from 6 years of age can participate in this tour.
Reykjavík is a growing city, but it’s surrounded by quaint natural areas. These areas serve as a playground for locals and travelers alike. Just a 15 minutes drive from the city center you’ll find the ATV base camp, ideally located for fun excursions from the city.
Your quad bike tour takes you along the lovely Lake Hafravatn, and various terrains to have fun on. Then it’s onwards and upwards as you bike to the top of Hafrafell mountain – the high point of your journey. From there, you should be able to see the Hengill mountain range, Iceland’s third most active volcanic system, together with Hellisheiði, the geothermal power plant for the capital area. A spectacular view over Faxaflói bay and the whole capital region, Bláfjöll mountain range, and Esja, Reykjavik’s house mountain, is waiting for you.

Yes, a valid driver‘s license is required to operate an ATV. If you do not have such a license but are traveling with a partner who does, you can ride on the back of his/her snowmobile.
The standard version of this tour has two persons riding an ATV. This is called a double ride.
You can book the tour with the additional single rider fee (solo), which means that one person rides each ATV.
Please note that if you are traveling solo, you must book this tour with the single rider fee. Double rides are not shared with other guests on the tour.
Yes, if you both have a valid driver’s license you swap drivers to share the experience.
Yes, this is a great activity for families with kids. Children 6 years and older are welcome on this tour. Children 6-16 years of age ride on the back of an ATV.
No, pickup and dropoff are not included in the tour price but you can add transfer services from Reykjavík at booking.
The transfer cost is 3,500 ISK per person.
The meeting point for this tour is at Lambhagavegur. It takes about 15 minutes to drive there from the center of Reykjavík.
Please note that you must be on location at least 15 minutes before the start of your tour.

You should wear warm, comfortable clothing and good, sturdy shoes.
You will be supplied with warm overalls, gloves, balaclava and helmet.
You will be supplied with helmets and other appropriate safety equipment for the ATV tour.
The tour operator reserves the right to alter the itinerary according to weather and road conditions. If a tour is canceled due to bad weather, we will work together to either find another date for you to go on the tour (if possible) or provide you with a full refund.
Reservations can be canceled 24 hours prior to departure without penalty. Cancellations received less than 24 hours prior to departure are non-refundable.
Cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@iat.is.
Please be mindful of possible time zone differences. Iceland is in the GMT time zone and cancellations must be submitted at least 24 hours before departure in Icelandic local time (GMT).
If you do need to cancel your tour, we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible.
Our address is Lambhagavegur 19, 113 Reykjavik. Your best option is to put Safari Quads in Google maps and the estimate time is a 15 minute drive from downtown Reykjavik. You will need to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to departure time. Showing up late and missing the departure will result in no refund and we don’t like that! And YES there is free parking at our basecamp 🙂
