Every year, the Reykjavik New Year’s Eve Cruise at Sea sets sail from the shores of Reykjavik. Guests are welcomed aboard the Visitor Centre at the Old Harbour, where they receive a complimentary drink. As the vessel departs, it glides into the bay, heading towards the best viewing spot for the fireworks.
While there is no official fireworks show, Reykjavik’s residents create a fantastic spectacle. Around 200,000 people set off nearly 500 tonnes of fireworks from 11 PM until midnight in the greater Reykjavik area. This collective effort transforms the sky into a dazzling display of light and sound.
During the Reykjavik New Year’s Eve Cruise, guests can enjoy a variety of comforts. They can stay on deck and keep warm in provided overalls or relax in the heated indoor saloon while watching the fireworks through large windows. Lively music, delicious snacks, and complimentary drinks are available at the bar, ensuring a delightful experience. In clear weather conditions, guests might even spot the Northern Lights!
As midnight approaches, everyone onboard New Year’s Eve Cruise will join together for an exciting countdown. Guests will raise their glasses to welcome the New Year together.

After the breathtaking fireworks display, the vessel will slowly make its way back to the harbor. Upon arrival, guests can explore downtown Reykjavik and enjoy the festive atmosphere further.
The Reykjavik New Year’s Eve Cruise at Sea is subject to weather and sea conditions. The minimum drinking age is 20 years, and all underage passengers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Don’t miss your chance to experience this exciting celebration on the water in breathtaking Reykjavik!
Reservations can be canceled 24 hours prior to departure without penalty. Cancellations received less than 24 hours prior to departure are non-refundable.
