Experience the Aurora Borealis your way on a private Northern Lights tour from Reykjavík. With your own vehicle and guide, this experience gives you the freedom and privacy to enjoy Iceland’s night sky without sharing the tour with another group.
Your guide uses detailed weather, cloud and aurora forecasts together with satellite information to search for the best available viewing conditions. The supplier reports a 90% Northern Lights sighting rate, although sightings can never be guaranteed.
Whether you’re travelling as a couple, family or group of friends, a private tour creates a more personal way to experience one of Iceland’s most extraordinary natural phenomena.
Leave Reykjavík behind and travel away from artificial light in search of clear skies and the Northern Lights.
Because the experience is private, you can enjoy the evening with your own group and guide. This makes the tour particularly suitable for special occasions, photography trips and travellers looking for a more exclusive Northern Lights experience.
High-resolution professional photos are included with the tour. The images are edited after your experience and delivered within 48 hours via Dropbox.
Your guide can also assist with your own camera settings. Extra mobile-phone and camera tripods are available to borrow during the tour.
Warm winter jumpsuits are provided at the viewing location to help you stay comfortable in Iceland’s winter conditions.
You’ll also enjoy hot chocolate, traditional Icelandic snacks, drinks and Icelandic snaps while waiting beneath the night sky.
Northern Lights sightings can never be guaranteed.
If the tour operates but there is no Northern Lights sighting, you’ll be eligible for a free retry valid for two years from your original tour date, subject to scheduled tour availability.
A sighting means that the Northern Lights can be seen with the naked eye, even if they appear only as a faint green line for a short period. If the aurora is visible only through a camera, the supplier considers this a non-sighting.
Refunds are not provided when the tour operates but a Northern Lights sighting is not possible.
Pick-up and drop-off are included from eligible hotels, larger guesthouses and cruise ship terminals in Reykjavík.
Due to city regulations, tour vehicles cannot stop at certain locations in central Reykjavík. Guests staying outside Reykjavík can meet the tour at the designated N1 Ártúnshöfði meeting point.
