Family River Fun Rafting
The Family River Fun Rafting sets sails from the breathtaking Brúarhlöður canyon. The Hvítá river is a glacier river flowing from Langjökull glacier, and it is the river that feeds into the fantastic Gullfoss waterfall. The river from Brúarhlöður has smooth, fun waves for rafting while situated in a beautiful place. On this rafting journey, we sail down 4 kilometers, rafting down friendly rapids and playing games while admiring a view from a whole different perspective.
We have created this tour for the kids so that they too can enjoy and have fun on the river. It is trendy among children. We begin a bit further down the river than the main tour, the River Fun Rafting tour, since the water becomes more smooth and child-friendly. If any grown-ups in the group prefer to join in on the whole river trip, the River Fun Rafting, then you are in luck. It is possible to book the entire tour and then sail down to meet with the rest of the family or group at Brúarhlöður.
We provide you with a wetsuit to make the experience pleasing and a life jacket to ensure everyone is afloat. There is no need for a previous rafting experience, and the tour is suitable for most ages and abilities.
Rafting down Hvítá is one of the best ways to spend any day, and we are sure that no family should leave Iceland without enjoying the river’s fun, playing, and splashing down the Icelandic glacial river.

What do I need to bring?
Warm undergarment clothing including fleece/wool sweater and pants, warm socks, change of clothing, bathing suit & towel. All rafting trips are undertaken on the responsibility of their participants.

Drumbo River Base is our beloved rafting headquarters situated within the Golden Circle, just a short drive from the iconic Gullfoss waterfall and even closer to Geysir and Strokkur hot springs. From Reykjavík, it takes about 1.5 hours to reach Drumbo from Reykjavík. All of our rafting tours begin from Drumbó and there we get geared up for rafting.

Yes, you can bring your camera. However, if it’s not waterproof then it will get ruined.
Luckily, you have a few options to get that great photo;
1. You own a waterproof camera or phone that you bring with you
2. You use our specifically designed laminating machine and make your phone waterproof while still being operational for the river ride.
3. You rent a GoPro from us at Drumbó River Base
4. You buy a disposable waterproof camera at the Drumbó River Base.
Reservations can be canceled 48 hours prior to departure without penalty. Cancellations received less than 48 hours prior to departure are non-refundable.
Cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@iat.is.
Please be mindful of possible time zone differences. Iceland is in the GMT time zone and cancellations must be submitted at least 48 hours before departure in Icelandic local time (GMT).
