Experience the best of Iceland on our Golden Circle & Horseback Riding Tour, a small-group adventure departing from Reykjavik. This carefully designed day trip combines the thrill of horseback riding with visits to Iceland’s most famous Golden Circle attractions.
To begin the day, we drive to Laxness Horse Farm in the beautiful Mosfellsdalur Valley. Here, you will enjoy a two-hour guided horseback ride on the unique and friendly Icelandic horses. Although no prior riding experience is needed, riders must be at least six years old. Moreover, safety is a priority, so helmets, boots, and seasonal gear such as rainwear or warm overalls are provided. As a result, all you need to bring are comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes, and enthusiasm.
Afterwards, the adventure continues with the Golden Circle Express, operated by Gray Line Iceland. In addition to the horseback ride, you will explore three of Iceland’s most remarkable natural sites:
Thingvellir National Park – Firstly, visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site where Iceland’s first parliament was founded over 1,000 years ago. Furthermore, it is one of the few places on Earth where you can walk between two tectonic plates. The stunning landscapes and Iceland’s largest natural lake, Thingvallavatn, make the park unforgettable.
Gullfoss Waterfall – Next, marvel at the “Golden Waterfall.” The Hvítá River plunges dramatically into a canyon, and on the other hand, sunny days create rainbows that dance in the mist. Therefore, it is one of the most photographed sites in Iceland.
Geysir Geothermal Area – Finally, explore the bubbling geothermal valley where the Great Geysir gave its name to all geysers worldwide. Although the Great Geysir rarely erupts now, nearby Strokkur bursts high into the air every few minutes, providing a spectacular show.
Food is not included; however, stops are made where you can purchase meals. In conclusion, dressing in warm, waterproof layers and wearing solid shoes will ensure you enjoy the tour comfortably. This Golden Circle and horseback riding tour from Reykjavik offers both excitement and cultural discovery, making it one of the best day trips in Iceland.
