Discover the beauty of North Iceland on our Mývatn Nature Baths & Goðafoss & Hverir from Akureyri tour. Starting from the Cruise Terminal in Akureyri, this excursion combines stunning waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, geothermal wonders, and a relaxing hot spring experience.
The journey begins at Goðafoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most famous natural landmarks. Known as the “Waterfall of the Gods,” Goðafoss plunges 12 meters into the Skjálfandafljót river, creating a dramatic sight and sound. Surrounded by basalt formations, it is a must-see on any Akureyri day trip.
Next, we explore Lake Mývatn, a volcanic lake formed over 2,300 years ago. This area is famous for the Skútustaðagígar pseudo-craters and its rich birdlife, including rare species of ducks and geese. The unique geology and natural beauty make Lake Mývatn a highlight of this North Iceland tour.
Our adventure continues to the Hverir geothermal area at Námaskarð. Here, you will encounter bubbling mud pots, steaming vents, and colorful mineral deposits. The surreal landscape of Hverir showcases Iceland’s geothermal power and offers a truly otherworldly experience.
We end the day at the relaxing Mývatn Nature Baths, where you can soak in warm, mineral-rich waters with panoramic views of the surrounding lava fields. These hot springs are renowned for their healing properties and provide the perfect way to unwind before returning to Akureyri. Towels are available for rent on site for 850 ISK.
Please wear warm clothing, waterproof layers, and sturdy hiking shoes.
