The RIB Whale Watching and Puffin Tour Húsavík

For whale watching and puffin tour with a kick, you should try the RIB Whale watching and puffin tour. Sail from the Húsavík harbor out to the open sea, looking for the sea’s gentle giants. During the tour, you will also stop by Puffin Island, one of the biggest puffin colonies in Iceland. For a fun excursion in North Iceland, we recommend this tour!

You’ll sail out from the charming town of Húsavík, known as the whale-watching capital of Iceland. You’ll start the tour by visiting Puffin Island*. Guests cannot set foot on the island, but your captain will stop the boat close by. Here you will experience the magic of seeing hundreds of puffins flying above and around you. Your experienced guide will also tell you about the puffins that inhabit this area, and you’ll probably learn some fun facts about these colorful birds!

After visiting Puffin Island, you’ll sail further out to sea. Skjálfandi bay is famous for its abundance of whales. Whale species that are commonly spotted here include Humpback whales, Minke whales, Blue whales, and more. Sailing on the RIB boat, you can get incredibly close to these gentle giants.

*Please note that the puffin season is from April 15th to August 20th. After that, the tour focuses on whale watching.
