Take off from Reykjavik and fly to the Fagradalsfjall volcano area on the Reykjanes Peninsula. Seeing this natural wonder with your own eyes is truly remarkable and one of the things you must do if you are in Iceland.

On Friday, March 19th, 2021, a relatively small eruption started on the Reykjanes Peninsula. The eruption site is located in enclosed valleys called Geldingadalir, 20 miles southwest of Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík. The eruption was the first eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula since the 14th century and followed three weeks of over 50.000 earthquakes in the area. However, during the days leading up to the eruption, the seismic activity had died down, so the eruption came as somewhat of a surprise. The eruption was ongoing for six months and last emitted fresh lava on September 18th, 2021.

On this flight, you get to explore the area from the air, get a bird’s eye view of the whole area, and witness the ongoing eruption that started on August 3rd; widespread lava fields, bubbling lava, colossal craters, and an abundance of colors. You can’t see the eruption now, but it’s still worth seeing the area!

Please note that there is no landing at the eruption site, but we will give you the best viewing experience from the air.
