The 4-Day Northern Lights Adventure Tour begins with pick-up at 9 AM from a selected location in Reykjavík. Guests should be ready, as the pickup may take up to 30 minutes. The first stop is Deildartunguhver, Europe’s largest hot spring. Here, guests can choose to either visit the nearby Krauma Geothermal Baths or interact with Icelandic horses at a local farm. Afterward, the tour continues to Reykholt, a historically important town linked to medieval poet Snorri Sturluson.
Next, participants will explore the enchanting Hraunfossar and Barnafoss Waterfalls. As day turns to night, and if conditions are suitable, the group will hunt for the Northern Lights before heading to Snæfellsnes Peninsula for overnight lodging at Hotel Borgarnes.
After a generous breakfast, guests will travel to Djúpalónssandur Beach. Along the way, they can soak in the stunning alpine scenery of western Snæfellsnes. Guests will learn about the area’s history as a fishing village. They will enjoy a short hike as the captivating Atlantic waves crash onto the black pebble beach. An old British trawler, shipwrecked in 1948, remains visible from the shore. At the beach’s edge, guests will be greeted by a picturesque view of Mt. Kirkjufell, known as one of Iceland’s most photographed mountains. The day ends with breathtaking views of Snæfellsjökull, a glacier famous from Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth.” After this full day, the group will return to Reykjavík for the night.
Day three highlights Iceland’s stunning South Coast. Guests will visit Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss Waterfalls, followed by the charming village of Vik. Next, they will explore Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. If conditions allow, the group will search for the Northern Lights again as they head to their hotel for the night.
On the final day, the tour takes guests to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach, where glimmering icebergs decorate the black sand. The group will also visit a natural ice cave, guided by a certified glacier expert. Inside the ice cave, guests will marvel at the deep blue hues of the ice.
On the return trip to Reykjavík, the group will stop by Vatnajökull National Park, with its captivating landscapes. As night falls, participants will have one last chance to hunt for the Northern Lights before returning to Reykjavík.
This 4-Day Northern Lights Adventure Tour combines Iceland’s natural beauty with opportunities to witness the awe-inspiring Northern Lights. Travelers won’t want to miss this extraordinary experience!
