The Golden Circle sightseeing route includes three main attractions:
Thingvellir National Park (Þingvellir) is historically the most important place on the island, approximately 45 kilometers from Reykjavik. In 930, the Icelandic parliament Althing was established at Thingvellir, and it’s the oldest still existing legislature in the world. Besides that, the National Park is fascinating due to its unique geological location between the North American and Eurasian Plates. The result is volcanic and tectonic activity; a rift valley, gorges, basalt rocks, waterfall, and fissures have been created here.
You can snorkel here in one of the fissures in the crystal clear waters of Þingvallavatn – the biggest natural lake in Iceland. Expected visiting time in Thingvellir National Park – 1 hour.
Geysir Geothermal Area – this Haukadalur valley zone is full of hot springs, bubbling mud pots, and steam vents, but the biggest attraction is the Strokkur geyser erupting regularly every 7-10 minutes, and the column of water can reach 30 meters!
All other geysers in the world are named after the Icelandic Great Geysir, which is not active at this moment (Geysir erupted suddenly in 2016 last time), but you can come close and admire the calm surface of the water.
There is a vast tourist center in Geysir where you can order tasty lunch or refreshments, drink coffee or buy good quality souvenirs.
Expected visiting time in Geysir Geothermal Area – 1 hour.
Gullfoss Waterfall – the Golden Waterfall, is one of the most impressive, iconic, and beloved attractions on the whole island. Gullfoss has two cascades and is located in a massive canyon of the Hvítá river, which originates from Langjökull Glacier – the second biggest glacier in Iceland. From Gullfoss, the Snowmobile Tour and the Glacier Ride Truck Tour depart, and you can add one of them as an extra activity to this private tour.
You can try delicious, traditional Icelandic lamb soup (kjötsúpa) in the Gullfoss Restaurant. There is also another excellent gift store.
Expected visiting time around Gullfoss – 1 hour.
Besides these main Golden Circle attractions, we will try to find the best spots where you can pet famous Icelandic horses and take great pictures with them. We will be more than happy to assist you with any photos during this trip.

You can also book the activities directly through our website, but please let’s confirm together the departure time – to be sure we plan everything properly.
The meals are not included in the tour price, but we will arrange a few stops where you can purchase lunch, refreshments, and coffee.
It’s good to bring some snacks with you and a bottle of water.
Please take warm and waterproof layers, a hat, gloves, sunglasses, and solid shoes.
The weather in Iceland is unpredictable, and the conditions outside the city may be completely different than in Reykjavik.

Reservations can be canceled 48 hours prior to departure without penalty. Cancellations received less than 48 hours prior to departure are non-refundable.
Cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@iat.is.
Please be mindful of possible time zone differences. Iceland is in the GMT time zone and cancellations must be submitted at least 48 hours before departure in Icelandic local time (GMT).
If you do need to cancel your tour, we recommend that you contact us as soon as possible.
