This Premium Northern Lights tour offers one of the best Northern Lights viewing experiences in Iceland. Travel in a comfortable minibus with a small group and look for the Northern Lights in the night sky. Caused by solar winds colliding with the magnetic field of our planet, the Northern Lights are a spectacular light show. They occur high in the upper atmosphere. This light display is commonly seen in high latitude locations, such as Iceland. When spotted, the Northern Lights offer one of the most incredible light shows on earth. These beautiful lights, one of nature’s phenomenon, should be on every winter travelers bucket list when it comes to experiences in Iceland!
After pickup in Reykjavík, you will be driven out of the city with an experienced Northern Lights guide. More vivid displays of the Northern Lights can usually be seen away from the light pollution of Reykjavík. There is no one better location to see the lights, it all depends on the weather, cloud cover and more. Therefore the route for this tour varies from day to day, in order to take you to the best possible location each time.
Once the best location has been found, you’ll be able to exit the minibus to witness the lights. You’ll have plenty of time to take photographs, and your guide can assist you with setting up your camera if you don’t have the right settings already.
After what has hopefully been a fruitful hunt for the Northern Lights, you’ll be returned to Reykjavík.
Yes, both pickup and dropoff in Reykjavík are included on this tour. Please note that pickup can take up to 30 minutes so it’s important that you are ready at your chosen pickup location on time.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon so sightings of it can never be guaranteed.
Behind the operation on this tour is a team that checks the Northern Lights forecast regularly each day, doing their best to predict the locations with the highest probability of a clear sighting.
If you do not see Northern Lights on your tour, you are welcome to go on another regular Northern Lights tour with the same operator, free of charge.
You should wear warm clothing, both as your first and second layer. Keep in mind that it can get quite cold in Iceland, not the least when standing still looking at the night sky, during the cold nights.
You should also wear good shoes with a solid grip, a warm cap, and gloves.
No, dinner is not included in this tour but you will be offered some light Icelandic refreshments.
We recommend that you enjoy a good dinner in Reykjavík before going on this tour, but you can also purchase light meals and snacks during stops along the way.
The duration of this tour varies from 3 to 5 hours, depending on conditions.
