The adventure begins in Vík, where you meet the guide and join a small group of up to 19 participants. From there, the Super Jeep journey takes approximately 45 minutes through the dramatic landscapes towards Kötlujökull, an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull.
After reaching the glacier area, prepare for a short walk of approximately 10 minutes towards the ice cave. Helmet and crampons are provided for the experience.
Inside, discover an ever-changing world of blue ice, black volcanic ash and incredible natural formations. Katla volcano lies beneath Mýrdalsjökull, and layers of volcanic material create striking contrasts within the glacier.
Natural ice caves constantly change as the glacier moves and responds to weather conditions. Therefore, the formations you see may differ from photographs and from what previous visitors experienced.
