Katla Ice Cave Tour from Reykjavik

Join us for an unforgettable Katla Ice Cave tour from Reykjavik, where you’ll explore one of Iceland’s most unique natural wonders. The adventure begins with pick-up from designated bus stops in Reykjavik. You will travel comfortably in a mini bus before transferring to a powerful Super Jeep for the exciting off-road journey to the glacier.

Katla Ice Cave Adventure

As we leave the city, the drive takes us along Iceland’s famous Ring Road (Route 1) before turning toward the rugged highlands. You’ll witness dramatic landscapes filled with mountains, black sand deserts, and vast glaciers.

Our destination is the Kötlujökull glacier, part of the mighty Mýrdalsjökull ice cap that covers the Katla volcano. At the glacier’s base, you’ll discover breathtaking views of layered ice formations, with striking stripes created over thousands of years. This natural phenomenon offers a fascinating glimpse into Iceland’s geological history.

A short guided hike brings you to the Katla Ice Cave, where shimmering blue and black ice walls surround you. Your expert guide will share stories about the cave’s formation, local legends, and the powerful forces of nature that continue to shape it today. This is both an educational and awe-inspiring experience you won’t forget.

South Coast Waterfalls

On the return journey to Reykjavik, the adventure continues with stops at two of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. Skógafoss, located in the charming village of Skógar, is a 60-meter cascade steeped in folklore. You’ll also visit the magical Seljalandsfoss, a waterfall you can walk behind for a truly unique perspective. (Please note: in winter, from November 16 to January 31, we visit only Seljalandsfoss due to limited daylight.)

We return to Reykjavik around 8 PM. Remember to dress warmly in waterproof clothing, gloves, hats, and sturdy shoes, as proper gear is essential for your comfort and safety.
