Hike to Reykjadalur Hot Spring – Thermal River
Embark on an extraordinary Icelandic adventure with our full-day tour that promises to immerse you in the stunning natural wonders surrounding Reykjavík. Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from Reykjavík, setting the stage for a day of exploration and relaxation.
Please meet the tour at Bus Stop # 12 (opposite Storm Hotel). We will pick you up there within 30 minutes from the departure time.

Kleifarvatn
The first destination on our itinerary is the mesmerizing Lake Kleifarvatn. Nestled in a volcanic landscape, the lake exudes an otherworldly charm, surrounded by rugged hills and lava fields. Take in the serene beauty and capture the essence of Iceland’s unique geology as your expert guide provides insights into the region’s fascinating history and natural phenomena.
Seltún
From Lake Kleifarvatn, we venture to the Seltún Geothermal Area, where the Earth’s geothermal forces are on full display. Marvel at the bubbling mud pots, hissing steam vents, and vibrant mineral deposits that create a surreal landscape. The ethereal atmosphere of Seltún offers a glimpse into the geological forces shaping Iceland.
Hveragerði
Next on our itinerary is a lunch stop at a charming Greenhouse in Hveragerði. Delight your taste buds with a locally sourced and freshly prepared meal amidst the thriving horticultural community. Experience the town’s commitment to sustainable living and witness the ingenious use of geothermal energy in greenhouse cultivation.

Reykjadalur
After a satisfying lunch, gear up for an exhilarating hike to Reykjadalur Valley, known as the “Steam Valley.” Traverse picturesque landscapes, passing rolling hills and steaming vents on your way to the highlight of the tour – the natural hot springs. Upon reaching Reykjadalur, take a dip in the warm river, surrounded by untouched nature. This is a unique opportunity to unwind and rejuvenate in the therapeutic waters of Iceland’s geothermal paradise.
The hike takes about 60 minutes one way. Don’t forget about your towel and swimming suit. There are no restrooms or facilities in the mountains.
As the day concludes, we’ll drive you back to Reykjavík, allowing you to reflect on a day filled with awe-inspiring sights, culinary delights, and the rejuvenating embrace of Reykjadalur’s natural hot springs. Please wear warm, waterproof clothes and sturdy hiking shoes! Remember to bring with you some snacks and a bottle of water.
Reservations can be canceled 24 hours prior to departure without penalty. Cancellations received less than 24 hours prior to departure are non-refundable.
