If you are visiting Akureyri, joining an Akureyri Whale Watching Tour is an unforgettable experience. From the harbor in Akureyri, you will sail out onto the breathtaking Eyjafjörður fjord, one of the best places in Iceland for spotting whales. With its calm waters and rich marine ecosystem, this fjord is famous for its abundance of humpback whales, making it a must-do activity for nature lovers.
Your journey begins at the harbor, where you will board a specially designed, high-speed whale watching vessel. The ship features cinema-style viewing platforms, indoor and outdoor seating, and a cozy cafeteria and bar. Whether you prefer the fresh sea air on deck or the comfort of inside seating, you will enjoy spectacular views of the fjord and its wildlife.
During the tour, an experienced whale watching guide will share fascinating insights about the local ecosystem and answer any questions you may have. While humpback whales are the stars of Eyjafjörður, you might also encounter other whale species, playful white-beaked dolphins, and a variety of seabirds soaring above the water. Every trip is different, and the excitement of spotting these incredible animals in their natural habitat makes each tour unique.
The tour lasts a few hours, after which you will return to the harbor in Akureyri with memories to last a lifetime. Please note that Icelandic weather can be unpredictable, and routes may change to ensure your safety and the best possible viewing opportunities.
