On this tour, you’ll start by driving up to Húsafell. This area is famous for its natural beauty and geothermal energy. Once in Húsafell you’ll be able to stretch your legs before heading on your Into the Glacier tour. The tour starts with a ride in a special glacier vehicle up to the Into the Glacier entrance. This man-made tunnel in Langjökull glacier offers the unique chance to walk around inside a glacier. During the tour, you’ll be able to touch, smell and even taste the glacier! You’ll also learn more about the environment of the glacier from your expert guide.
After the Into the Glacier tour, you will return to Húsafell where you can enjoy lunch. After lunch, you will be driven up to Víðgemlir Lava Cave for another amazing experience. With your expert lava cave guide, you will explore and learn more about Víðgemlir, the largest known lava tube in Iceland. Once you enter it you will be able to see the cave’s amazing colors, lava stalactites, stalagmites and more. Evidence of human habitation, likely from the Viking Age, has been found here and your guide will tell you all about the cave’s history. After the lava cave tour, you will be driven back to Reykjavík.
