This fun day on the South Shore includes sightseeing, glacier walking, and ice climbing! After pickup in Reykjavík, you will head to the South Coast with your expert guide and some new friends. Your first destination is Sólheimajökull glacier. Here you will put on crampons and head out on your glacier adventure. You’ll explore the amazing features of the glacier, which include water cauldrons and deep crevasses. Once a suitable spot for ice climbing is found, you’ll get a short introduction to ice climbing. During your introduction to ice climbing session, you will learn the proper climbing technique. Afterward, everyone gets a chance to have a go at some fun and easy climbing.
In the afternoon, you’ll visit two of the South Coasts most famous waterfalls. These are the Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss waterfall. Visiting these picture-perfect waterfalls is the perfect end to a great day on the South Coast. At the end of the day, your guide will drive you back to Reykjavík.
You should wear appropriate warm clothing, rain gear, and hiking boots. Hiking boots and other gear can be rented at booking at additional cost.
No, lunch is not included in this tour but you are welcome to bring a packed lunch or buy lunch at one of the stops on the tour.
The duration of this tour is about 10-12 hours, so this is a full day tour. During the day, you spend about 3 hours on the ice at Sólheimajökull glacier.
For the glacier walk and ice climbing, you’ll be supplied with crampons, an ice ax, a harness and a helmet.
Reservations can be canceled 24 hours prior to departure without penalty. Cancellations received less than 24 hours prior to departure are non-refundable.
