After pickup in Reykjavík, you will start your journey towards the South Coast. This area of Iceland offers stunning, contrasting landscape. Dotted with lush farmlands, here you’ll also find steep cliffs, amazing waterfalls and black, volcanic beaches. After passing through the agricultural towns of Hveragerði and Selfoss, you’ll head further south where the mountainous landscape and even ice caps soon come into view. From the minibus, you’ll be able to view glaciers, volcanos, and charming farms. On most days you’ll also be able to get a view of the Westman Islands.
Once at Seljalandsfoss, you’ll be able to walk behind this mighty waterfall if conditions allow. You’ll also visit the lesser-known Gljúfrabúi waterfall, hidden from view in the mountainside. Next, it’s time to visit Skógarfoss waterfall. As one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland, this waterfall is an impressive sight to see. From Skógarfoss you’ll drive up to the Sólheimajökull Glacier. Here you’ll take a light stroll to the glacier’s edge where you can view the ever-changing landscape of the glacier and its surroundings. Before heading back to Reykjavík, you will, of course, visit the famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. With the roaring waves of the North Atlantic ocean hitting the black sand beach with force, a visit to this iconic beach is a must-do for any South Coast visitor.
Before heading back to Reykjavík, you will visit Holt farm. There you will be greeted by local farmer Valborg. She will tell you more about life on the farm and you’ll get to try some homemade pastries.
