The South Coast Elements Tour

Are you looking for an action-packed adventure on the South Coast? Then the South Coast Elements tour is the perfect choice for you! On this tour, you will hike on a glacier, take a dip in a remote swimming pool, ride a Fat Bike and see all the major sights on the South Coast. You’ll also explore a cave and much more! This tour is for active travelers that are looking for a full day experience.

After pickup in Reykjavík, your first stop will be the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall. A short distance away you’ll find the Gljúfrabúi waterfall, where things tend to get wet! Before heading up on a glacier, you’ll also visit the Skógarfoss waterfall.

Once by the glacier, you’ll gear up for a stunning hike on Sólheimajökull glacier. All safety gear is provided on the tour and your guide will lead you on a 1 – 1,5 hours hike. Afterward, it’s time to hit the Sólheimasandur desert. Here you’ll ride a Fat Bike over the volcanic sand and ash until you reach the US Navy DC-3 plane wreck. The plane crash-landed here in 1973 and has since been immortalized in numerous music videos and viral photographs. After all this action it’s time for some relaxation. During summertime, you’ll visit the Seljavallarlaug swimming pool. Built in 1923, this pool provides one of the most unique swimming experiences a visitor can have in Iceland. Due to inaccessibility, the pool is not visited in winter time (from October to late April).

Before heading back to Reykjavík, you’ll top off a great day with a visit to a beautiful lava cave. Equipped with helmets and flashlights you will scramble over big lava rocks and crawl into the darkness of the Icelandic underground.
