The tour departs from Reykjavík at 08:00 in the morning. On day one, you will visit these stunning places.
The first stop is at Seljalandsfoss waterfall where you can walk behind and feel the vibrations of the water hitting the ground. Right next to it is the waterfall Gljúfrabúi which is hidden in a small gorge. To see the waterfall you have to balance over stones in the river.
Prepare to meet the pearl of the south coast, Skógafoss waterfall. It is dropping 60 meters from a cliff and producing a lot of mist which makes beautiful rainbows in the sunshine. Try to warm up for the glacier by running up the 527 steps to the top!
Reynisfjara (Black Sand Beach)
We will visit the black sand beach of Reynisfjara where big waves are hitting the shore. You can see basalt columns in the cliffs, rock pillars in the water and the cliffs of Dyrhólaey in the distance. But this beach is also a paradise for bird lovers because puffins are nesting on top of the rocks in the summertime from June to August.
Before heading back to Reykjavík there are still plenty of sights yet to be discovered. You will visit these on your way back to Reykjavík.
Jökulsárlón (Glacier Lagoon
This morning we will see the famous Glacier Lagoon, a 250m deep glacial lake fed by Europe’s biggest glacier with enormous icebergs. We will have a walk along the shore of the lake and enjoy wonderful views to the icebergs and feel the absolute silence of Icelandic nature. We will give you the opportunity to book a boat ride between the icebergs.
Just on the other side of the road the icebergs are floating into the Atlantic ocean and are thrown back to shore by weather and tides. This black sand beach is full of smaller ice rocks in uncountable shapes and sizes, sparkling like diamonds in the daylight. Sometimes even some blue icebergs are standing at this beach and give opportunities for spectacular pictures.
To complete our perfect adventure we will high five with a real glacier!
