Vestmannaeyjar Day Tour from Reykjavik

Your day in the Westman Islands will depart from your preferred location in Reykjavik. Once everyone’s on board, we’ll head to the Landeyjahöfn Ferry terminal. Here, we’ll hop on a ferry with Herjólfur and take a 30-45 minute ride to Vestmannaeyjar island.

Once there, we’ll start our tour by admiring Elephant Rock’s views (Halldórsskora). This beautiful formation is composed of basalt rock formed during the volcanic eruption of Eldfell. The rock is recognizable by its unique shape, which resembles an elephant’s head with its trunk dipping into the water.

We’ll continue our drive to Stórhöfði cape for some puffin watching, offering ample photo opportunities to capture shots of the charming little birds.

Next on our agenda is the Eldheimar Museum, often nicknamed ‘Pompeii of the North.’ Here, you can learn about the 1973 volcanic eruption and its effects on the area.

Then we’ll head downtown for lunch (not included in the tour price).

After lunch, we’ll go to the Skansinn, next to the harbor area, named after the fortress that used to stand here. There, you will see Stafkirkjan, a Norse “Viking” Wood Church, a lighthouse, and an incredible view over the cliffs.

Afterward, we will hike up Mt. Eldfell Volcano, which last erupted in 1973. From the top, you can see a fantastic view of the surrounding lava fields, the town, and the island.

After the hike, you can stroll around the town on your own or explore the lava field on your way to the harbor.

We’ll meet at the harbor in the late afternoon, take a ferry back to the mainland, and drop you off in Reykjavik in the evening.

Please wear warm & waterproof clothing and hiking shoes.

Golden Circle Afternoon Tour

Experience Iceland’s most famous natural wonders on our Golden Circle Afternoon Tour. This route is perfect for travelers who want history, geology, and stunning scenery in one unforgettable trip.

The Golden Circle includes three iconic stops: Þingvellir National Park, Geysir Hot Springs, and Gullfoss Waterfall. Some departures also add the volcanic crater lake Kerið, a striking reminder of Iceland’s fiery past.

Your journey begins at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, Iceland founded the world’s first parliament, Alþingi, over a thousand years ago. You can also see the Silfra fissure, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart.

Next, explore the geothermal valley of Geysir. Watch Strokkur erupt boiling water up to 30 meters high every few minutes. The steaming pools and bubbling hot springs make this area one of Iceland’s most dramatic natural wonders.

The final highlight is Gullfoss, the “Golden Waterfall.” This two-tiered cascade plunges into a rugged canyon, creating power and spray that leave visitors in awe.

The Golden Circle remains one of the most popular day tours in Iceland. Its close distance to Reykjavík and variety of sights make it a perfect introduction to the country. Our knowledgeable guides share stories of Icelandic history, culture, and nature along the way, bringing each stop to life.

Please note: We visit Kerið crater only on morning departures. Tours starting at 12:00 or later do not include this site.

For comfort, wear warm, water- and windproof clothing and sturdy walking shoes. Iceland’s weather changes quickly, and proper gear ensures you enjoy every moment.

Join us for an afternoon of unforgettable landscapes, fascinating history, and the very best of Iceland’s natural beauty.

Journey Through South Iceland

Leaving Reykjavik, we follow the scenic Viking Trail past the charming towns of Selfoss and Hvolsvöllur.
Waterfalls of the South Coast

Our first stop is Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, famous for its path that allows visitors to walk behind its cascading curtain. Continuing east, we arrive at the powerful Skógafoss Waterfall, plunging 60 meters into the river below—a true highlight of the South Coast.

Vík í Mýrdal and Black Sand Beaches

We then reach the picturesque village of Vík í Mýrdal, the southernmost town in Iceland. From the hilltop church, you can capture panoramic photos of the coastline and surrounding landscapes. Just outside the village, we explore the world-famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. Marvel at the basalt columns, sea stacks, and the roaring waves of the North Atlantic crashing against the dark volcanic sands.

Sólheimajökull Glacier

Before returning to Reykjavik, we visit the Sólheimajökull Glacier, where you can step onto ancient ice shaped by centuries of natural forces.

Landmannalaugar and the Valley of Tears – A Highland Adventure

Landmannalaugar and the Valley of Tears are two of Iceland’s most remarkable natural treasures, located in the heart of the Highlands. This unique area offers colorful rhyolite mountains, steaming hot springs, vast lava fields, and stunning hiking trails, making it one of the most unforgettable destinations in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve.

The Laugahraun lava field, created during a volcanic eruption in 1477, is a highlight of Landmannalaugar. Here you’ll find striking black obsidian, also known as Dragon Glass from Game of Thrones, gleaming across the landscape. The rhyolite mountains, rich in minerals such as quartz, sulphur, and iron, glow with vivid colors. The famous Brennisteinsalda (Sulphur Wave) peak beautifully showcases these natural hues.

Visitors usually spend around three hours in Landmannalaugar. Our guided two-hour hike leads you through the obsidian fields to Brennisteinsalda, but you may also explore other trails independently. If relaxation is more your style, bring a swimsuit and towel to enjoy the geothermal pool—a perfect way to unwind after your adventure.

On the way, you’ll also discover Hjálparfoss, a beautiful double waterfall surrounded by dramatic basalt formations. Historically, this oasis provided much-needed grazing for horses traveling the harsh Sprengisandur route, which is why it earned the name “Help’s Fall.”

Finally, the journey reaches Sigöldugljúfur – the Valley of Tears. This hidden gorge is filled with cascading waterfalls, creating misty veils that lend the canyon an enchanting, almost melancholic atmosphere.

Whether you are a hiker, photographer, or nature lover, Landmannalaugar and the Valley of Tears promise breathtaking scenery, geological wonders, and memories to last a lifetime.

South Coast and Katla Ice Cave Super Jeep Tour

Join our South Coast and Katla Ice Cave Super Jeep Tour from Reykjavík for an unforgettable day of adventure. Pick-up begins at 8:30 AM at your chosen location, and the excursion lasts 9–10 hours.

The highlight is the Katla Ice Cave, often called The Secret Ice Cave. Here, you will see layers of black, white, and blue ice formed over 800 years ago. Inside, towering ice walls shaped by centuries of water surround you. The air feels crisp, while droplets of glacial water create a magical atmosphere.

Next, the tour continues to Seljalandsfoss waterfall. A path behind the curtain of water allows you to experience the falls in a unique way. Afterward, you will visit the mighty Skógafoss, famous for its thunderous roar and frequent rainbows.

In addition, the journey takes you to Iceland’s dramatic black sand beaches near Vík. These stretches of coast are shaped by the Atlantic surf and lined with striking bird cliffs. The quaint village of Vík lies nearby, offering views of both mountains and sea.

On the way back, you will pass through Hveragerði, a town powered by geothermal energy. Greenhouses fill the landscape, where locals grow vegetables and flowers thanks to the natural heat. As a result, you will see how Icelanders use nature’s power in daily life.

Because the trip uses a Super Jeep, you can reach remote spots safely and comfortably. To enjoy the day fully, wear waterproof hiking shoes, dress in layers, and bring warm clothing.

In conclusion, this South Coast and Katla Ice Cave day tour combines glaciers, waterfalls, beaches, and Icelandic culture into one extraordinary adventure.
